We watched a show on PBS last night. We are speechless as to what we saw. Unimaginable what the Haitian people suffered two months ago, completely unimaginable, amputations without medication and only Motrin to control the pain afterwords (can you imagine?). Death upon death upon death. We will warn you the video is very graphic. At one point Margie almost had to leave the room.
Sitting here in our comfortable home with everything we need and most of what we want it is hard to imagine that people a short hour and a half flight from the US (literally our neighbors) are living like this and will continue to live like this for several months to come if not years. And to top it all off in a way the crisis is just beginning...rainy season is coming and there is still not enough tents or food. Honestly we are not sure the tents will keep the rain out and people dry, the death toll will continue to rise and not just the death but the suffering.
Life was hard before the earthquake for most Haitians now in our eyes it seems impossible. Yet, they are resealient. They are an unbelievably strong people, with an unbelievably strong faith. Oh, the lessons we could learn from them if we would only take the time to look. We are so blessed to be able to call them part of our family. Please take the time to watch. It is long, about an hour. Most of all don't stop praying for Haiti.
We get updates from the SBC and there are lives being saved as never before. We are gaining brothers and sisters by the thousands. Todd about a year or so ago said he felt God was doing a work in Haiti...a salvation work. We both felt God saying NOW is the time. It is more than evident now.
I can't get the video to link. Here is the web address: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/haiti/view/
It is called The Quake by Frontline
