People are starting to move up the mountain from Port-au-Prince to Petionville and surrounding communities looking for food, water, etc. The orphanage has been contacted by two different hospitals wanting whatever supplies GLA can spare. They are expecting people to start knocking at their gate any day now that word is out that they have supplies.
We believe the shock is beginning to wear off and exhaustion set in. Please pray for the staff. Many of you may not be aware but they are still having many aftershocks. One of the nurses stated even today that it feels like the earth has not stopped moving. It is not swaying as much but it is still moving.
GLA is preparing to reach out to their community. They have been given the availability of a 747 to load with supplies to bring in. Getting them to the orphanage is a different complication...we personally do not know how they are going to do this but by faith one step at a time. Right now they are trying to fill the plane. If you feel compelled to donate goods or money to them they will use it appropriately. In an earlier post we asked for 9 friends to join us in donating $100 each. They have a Relief Fund called 1000x1000. Look to the left panel for more detail on how to donate.
Again, we have to say how awesome the nannies at GLA are. In the midst of this horrible situation they have not forgotten God, our God! They are praising Him and being sustained by Him. They are an awesome testament to what life can be. "Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,' says the LORD, who has compassion on you." Isaiah 54:10. We know they feel this!
New Specific Prayer Requests:
- There is still one nanny missing
- The toddler house is down to their last container of cooking propane
- To get the supplies from the airport out to the people
- Strength and endurance for everyone at GLA
- Adoptive kids to be granted special Visas
