Earthquake

Another earthquake. 6.1...once again the house at GLA shook, everyone ran and the babies are once again outside with the nannies. Praise God once again everyone at GLA is safe. His protective hand is covering them.

Pray for GLA and the people of Haiti. Food prices are skyrocketing $10 for a 5 lb bag of rice (keep in mind that the average Haitian makes around $1 per day). That is almost 2 weeks wages for a 5 lb bag of rice...can you imagine!

GLA received some of the supplies from the airplane yesterday. They are hoping to get some of it out to their community today and pick up the rest at the airport. Dixie is in PAP at the US Embassy trying to get all the Visas. Pray that all the children will be allowed to leave soon.

Pray for everyone in Haiti and GLA. Their nerves are beginning to fray. It has been one week since the earthquake and they have been on overdrive ever since with media, Embassy paperwork, and just surviving.

Here is an excerpt from Dixie's Blog: "When will I be able to sleep with my bedroom door shut again? When will I be able to put my footrest up on my recliner and not sit in fear that I cannot get out fast enough if there is another earthquake? How long before the earth stops moving and I stop being dizzy all of the time? How long before every little shake of the house does not make my heart beat faster?"

One of the things that drew us to GLA many years ago was that Dixie and John were there for the Haitian people. They were not there to "save" them as many people are. They were there to help make their life better. They have not been all about GLA. In the last 8 years we have know them they have always had an outreach into their community making a difference in peoples lives, not just running the orphanage. They are still doing that, desiring to reach out around them with supplies. If you feel led to support GLA see the information to the left.
