New Cribs?

As many of you know we were given close to $2,000 more than we needed through the love of our family, church, and friends at school and work for our trip. We knew God had something planned for that money and we have been anxiously watching for where He might desire for us to use it.

We were talking with the orphanage director, Dixie, the other night after dinner and she was sharing how they are in desperate need of new cribs for the kids (She has no idea we have extra money). They currently have wooden cribs that are over 10 years old and have some sort of bug living in them, she believes possibly baby cockroaches. She has metal cribs of varying sizes that don't fit the room well. The biggest problem with the metal cribs are they are made from re-bar which is no big deal but after making them they are sprayed with a red paint to prevent rusting. Dixie paints over the red paint with an enamel and repaints as that wears down. Recently she has come to the knowledge that the red paint has lead in it and a few kids have gone home with high levels of lead in their system. She believes the lead in the kids system is coming from the kids chewing on the railings. These cribs need to go!! In the babies rooms there are stack cribs that are only about 6-8" deep. They were built for babies who could not stand or pull themselves up yet, due to the length of time the children are staying they now have babies in these cribs who can crawl and pull themselves up...very scary and dangerous. She wants to replace these as well. She is estimating over $5,000 to change them all which the orphanage can not afford right now. She has decided to start with the big kids room and go from there...get rid of the bugs and lead first.

She has found a guy with a good reputation who will build the cribs. He was at the house on Friday morning and he will build the cribs for a little over $53 US a piece. She will be able to replace all the cribs in the two big rooms (which is the bigger kids) for $2,700 US. We are wondering if this is where God wants us to use the extra money He provided. Wouldn't it be cool to replace all of the cribs for the big kids!?! Wouldn't it be cool to get rid of the lead and cockroaches!?! What a blessing that would be for the children of GLA. Is anyone interested in donating to help cover the $700 we are short? If 14 people wanted to purchase a crib for $53 that would more than cover the $700 we are short or maybe 28 people would like to donate $25. We hate to ask, everyone has been so generous already but what a blessing this would be to the children of GLA and their soon to be families. Pray about what God would like you to do then contact us if you feel Him leading you in this way...you can comment or email us at tmsreno@juno.com.

Thank you and God bless!!!
